The Rockland Pollution Control Department for the City of Rockland is seeking a skilled, hardworking, trustworthy candidate to serve as the Mechanic Maintenance Technician. This position is responsible for a variety of maintenance work involving the City’s Wastewater Treatment Facility and Pump stations and the Pollution Control Facility.
Located in the heart of Midcoast Maine, on the Penobscot Bay, Rockland, Maine is a vibrant city and is the year-round home to approximately 7200 residents. Rockland is renowned for its importance to Maine’s lobster fishing industry and its working waterfront both of which are supported by an expansive and picturesque multi-use harbor.
Recreational activities include kayaking, canoeing, fishing, sailing, and surfing. Miles of paths provides for hiking, biking, and strolling, with numerous golf courses located in the area. The Rockland region offers historic sites, lighthouses, antique shops, outlet stores, and general retail stores for every taste and budget. The successful candidate will have strong electrical skills, mechanical and analytical skills, and working knowledge of equipment maintenance methods and procedures. They will also be results driven, and be committed to fostering a positive, harmonious work environment, and be reliable and trustworthy. Proficiency in computers is a required.
Additionally, the candidate must also possess the following:
Experience and Education/Training:
· High school graduate or equivalent, experience in a treatment plant; electrical training and experience (license preferred); or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the requiredknowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
Licenses/Certifications/Other:
· Valid State of Maine Class C Driver’s License
· Ability to obtain a Grade II Operator Certification within a reasonable time frame set by the Director.
· Thorough knowledge of mechanical equipment, and the ability to diagnose and correct routine equipment malfunction, knowledge of basic machinery repair.
