This is an exciting and challenging opportunity in a growing community. The Mayor and City Council are seeking a leader to plan, direct, manage and oversee activities, projects and operations of the Public Works Department including Streets, Water, Sewer, and Forestry maintenance and construction. The City has a $3.6 million general fund budget and $1.6 million water and sewer operating fund. The City has recently undergone exciting capital projects including repainting water towers, $1.5 million in Street improvements, an upcoming Downtown Revitalization Project and City-wide lead service line replacement. A Comprehensive Plan, Strategic Plan, Source Water Protection Plan, Unified Development Ordinance, and Watershed Plan will all be adopted/updated within the year. The City is offering $95,000 +/- for the position depending on qualifications as well as a competitive benefits package that includes an IMRF pension.
Required education includes Class 2 wastewater “Certification of Competency” from the State of Illinois and a Class B water “Certification of Competency” from the State of Illinois. Ten years of increasingly responsible experience in the field of public works and five years of supervisory responsibility are preferred. Applicants must be competent in construction management, budget preparation and administration, facility management, and have the ability to manage, monitor, evaluate, plan, and develop programs, policy, and public works personnel.
